Offpage Optimzation

What is Off-Page Optimization?

Off-page optimization is all about improving your website’s reputation and authority outside of your website.

It includes everything you do away from your site to help it rank higher on Google.

What Does It Involve?

Backlinks – Getting links from other trusted websites to yours

Social Media Shares – When people share your content online

Brand Mentions – When your website or business is mentioned on other platforms

Guest Blogging – Writing articles on other websites that link back to you

Online Reviews – Positive reviews on sites like Google, Trustpilot, etc.

Example

Let’s say you run a blog on digital marketing tips.

If a popular marketing website links to one of your blog posts, that’s off-page SEO in action. It tells Google,

“This content is trusted and worth ranking.”

Types of Backlinks

Backlinks are most important for the ranking. This came from the other websites

But not all backlinks are the same. Let’s look at the main types:

1.Do-Follow Backlinks : Do-Follow backlins are most important type. They pass SEO value

2.No-Follow Backlinks : These links do not pass the SEO value, but they can still bring traffic and increase visibility.

Example: Links from social media platforms or forums often use rel=”nofollow”:

<a href=”https://yourwebsite.com” rel=”nofollow”>Check this out</a>

3.Sponsored Backlinks : Used when a link is part of a paid promotion or an ad.

Example: <a href=”https://yourwebsite.com” rel=”sponsored”>Sponsored content</a>

What is Directory Submission?

Directory submission is done by adding the website to the online directories. We do this so that we can get the backlink and increase the visibility.

In this directories business or website is listed under the various categories (for eg: tech, education, health etc….)

Example

Let’s say you run a digital marketing blog. So now you can submit your site to various directories:

  • www.dmoz-odp.org (if available)

You fill in your:

  • Website name
  • URL
  • Description
  • Category

Once approved, your site gets listed with a link back to your website.
