An SEO report is a summary of how good our website is performing in SERP (search engine Result Page). It helps you to understand that what’s working fine, and what needs to be fix, and how to improve the rankings.

Key Steps to Prepare an SEO Report

1. Check Website Traffic: We have to take the help of the various tools like Google Analytics to check the total number of visitors coming and from where they are coming to our website.

2.Track Keyword Rankings: Use tools like Google Search Console or Ubersuggest to analyse which keywords of your website is ranking for.

3.Audit On-Page SEO: Make sure all pages have proper title tags, meta descriptions, and headings.

4.Analyze Backlinks: Use tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush to see how many and what type of backlinks your site has.

5.Check Technical Issues: Look for broken links, slow loading speed, or missing sitemaps using tools like Screaming Frog or Site Audit tools.

6.Monitor Mobile Usability: Also it is mandatory to see is our site is mobile-friendly or not by using the Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test.

7.Review Core Web Vitals: Check performance metrics like page speed, interactivity, and visual stability in Google Search Console.

 

How to Prepare a Google Search Console Report – Step by Step

1. Open Google Search Console
Log into your account and select the website you want to analyze.

2. Go to the “Performance” Tab
Here, you’ll find key data like total clicks, impressions, average CTR (click-through rate), and average position. Choose a date range, like the last 28 days or last 3 months.

3. Check Top Queries
Look at which search terms bring the most clicks and impressions. Note the high-performing keywords and any that dropped in performance.

4. Analyze Pages
Switch to the “Pages” tab to see which pages are performing best in search. Track clicks, impressions, and their positions.

5. Compare Devices and Countries
Use the “Devices” and “Countries” tabs to understand where traffic is coming from and how users access your site (mobile, desktop, etc.).

6. Monitor Click-Through Rate (CTR)
Identify pages with low CTR but high impressions. These are good opportunities for improving titles and meta descriptions.

7. Review Index Coverage
Go to the “Pages” section in the left menu. Check for errors, warnings, and valid pages. Fix any issues like “404 errors” or “excluded” pages.

8. Check Core Web Vitals
Visit the “Experience” tab to see if your pages meet Google’s speed and usability standards.

9. Look at Mobile Usability
Under “Mobile Usability,” fix any problems like text too small or elements too close together.

10. Export and Summarize
Download the key data as a spreadsheet or PDF. Summarize the top queries, best pages, and action points for improvement.

How to Prepare a Backlinks Report – Step by Step

1. Use a Backlink Tool
Start with a reliable tool like Ahrefs, SEMrush, Moz, or Google Search Console to collect backlink data.

2. Export All Backlinks
Download the full list of backlinks pointing to your website. Include metrics like source URL, target URL, anchor text, and domain authority.

3. Group by Referring Domains
Sort the links by referring domains. This shows how many unique websites are linking to you—not just how many total links.

4. Check Link Quality
Identify high-quality backlinks from trusted sites. Look at domain authority (DA), relevance, and traffic. Flag any spammy or low-quality links.

5. Analyze Anchor Text
Check the anchor texts used. Make sure they’re natural and varied—not over-optimized or stuffed with keywords.

10. Create a Summary
End the report with a summary: total backlinks, referring domains, top pages, new links, and action points like removing bad links or building more quality ones.
